September 30 – Anchorage Jay Day

I birded my back yard today. Although I photographed a Black-billed Magpie and a Red-breasted Nuthatch, most of my photographs were of a Steller’s Jay that I was trying to lure to eat peanuts from my hand, Although a couple of other jays are tame and eat from hand as I have shown in previous blog posts, it was fun to take pictures today of theĀ nervous jay with its throat stuffed with a peanut but still wanting more, and with the jay flying to my hand and almost, but not quite landing on it, over and over again.
