This book (available in January 2026) provides information on what owls are and why they are so fascinating to so many. This is followed with a detailed discussion of the 19 species of owls found in the US and Canada, illustrated with paintings by the author. Additional pages cover in less detail the owls found in Mexico but not in the US. There is a chapter on the worldwide lore about owls and another on a wide variety of books that are about owls or are stories of owls.
